Many people think of cats as aloof and not very friendly, but Rex Manning (or Rex for short) seems to be on a one-cat mission to prove all the haters wrong!
His owner, Emily Crane, rescued him as a kitten eight years ago and quickly noticed that, unlike most rescue cats that are skittish around new people, Rex actually sought new friends out! The friendly kitty loves making new friends, especially those who will give him a pet!
“He loves attention, especially when it comes with nice, behind the ear scratches,” Emily laughed.
Because he is so social, Emily decided to give Rex the freedom to explore and make new friends. They live in a close-knit community, so she felt comfortable letting him out on his own.
“At a rather young age, he starting begging to go outside,” Emily said. “I would let him out the back door and watch from my upstairs kitchen window.”
As time went on, Rex began to venture out even more, often meeting new neighbors before Emily did!
“I think a lot of people around here are excited to see a friendly kitty,” she said.
But one day when Rex returned from one of his adventures, Emily noticed a note attached to his collar.
“He pranced inside with it, like he knew that he had a delivery to make,” she recalled.
She hoped it wasn’t from someone who had grown annoyed of Rex’s visits.
When she opened up the note, she quickly discovered she had no need to worry! In fact, the contents left her in a fit of giggles!
“Hello!” the note read. “This is your neighbor in the red house!
“We just wanted to let you know that Rex has developed a weird love for our bathtub + will sneak into our home to sit in it! All of us in the house are 100% okay with this because we all love Rex very much. We just want to let you know in case you were wondering where he was one of these days … he’s probably in our bathtub.
“<3 The Red House”
“I seriously could not stop laughing when I found the note,” Emily said. “It was adorable.”
“He is definitely a character!” she added.
While some people might be a little offended to discover their pet is two-timing them with another family, Emily is anything but!
“I love how friendly Rex is with people,” she said. “If they are interested, I can tell it makes their day to give a pet to a handsome, social kitty cat.”
Did you find Rex’s kitty hijinks as hilarious as we did? Then share it!
