Sometimes it seems like our world is going to hell in a handbasket, but then moments like this one occur and help to restore our faith in humanity.
Garrett Mager was staying at the Hyatt Regency in Louisville, Kentucky, and was trying to get some sleep when he was suddenly awakened by a loud noise coming from outside his hotel room.
Curious as to what was going on, Garrett got out of bed and opened his door, and what he discovered outside gave him chills.
The Kentucky Music Educator’s Association was staying at the hotel for a conference and, as is tradition, all the members joined together to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” in the Hyatt’s 18-story atrium.
Garrett immediately grabbed his phone and started filming, and the patriotic – and chill-inducing – video has since gone viral, garnering over 30 million views in just a matter of days!
People from all over the country and the world have written to Garrett to share how much his video has touched them.
“Absolutely beautiful,” said Betty Washburn. “This always brings tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. We are so lucky to live in America”
“Truly a beautiful tribute to our great country,” William C. Feldman agreed. “God Bless America.”
“So moving to see that there is still love and pride for our Anthem, flag and country,” said Geoffrey Miller.
“That’s worth waking up to,” Troy Elam agreed.
Garrett is glad so many people have watched his video but said he wants to give credit where it’s due.
“All credit goes to the kids to showcase their vocal abilities and skills,” he said. “They’ve probably worked really hard all year to get to this point and to be recognized on this kind of level is remarkable.”
He added that this incredible performance was one of the coolest things he has ever witnessed.
“This video touched all people of different places, religions, and ethnic backgrounds,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a Republican or a Democrat … It was truly an American moment.”
Did you love watching this patriotic performance as much as we did? Then share it!
