When we watch the news or read the paper, we are bombarded with reports of hate and racial divide. The problems our world faces can seem hopeless, but sometimes all it takes is a child to remind us of the good that is still all around us.
Star Balloon-Bradley was at a football game with her nephew, Isaiah, and his mom, Thameka. As they watched the game, Isaiah spotted a woman he had made friends with at a previous game.
The woman waved to him and Isaiah walked up the bleachers to talk to her. Thameka and Star thought he would just say hi and come back down to them, but what he did next left them stunned.
Isaiah climbed right up into the lap of this stranger and laid his head down on her shoulder! His mother and aunt started to go get him so he wouldn’t bother this woman, but then she did something that surprised them.
“She welcomed him with open arms,” Star wrote in a now-viral Facebook post. “This lady patted and rocked Isaiah to sleep like she had given birth to him. It was the sweetest! We asked her if she wanted us to get him, but she kept telling us she (and he) was fine!!”
“I told her tonight I am so sorry, and I don’t know why he keeps bothering her,” Star continued. “She replied he’s no bother and to not say that again. She said he was her new friend. She then went on to say she only has one child who is 15 and moments like this are priceless!”
Star and Thameka were blown away by this woman’s kindness toward a child she didn’t even know.
“With all of the racial tension that’s going on I’m glad to see the pictures like these because it goes to show color doesn’t matter to a lot of people. It really doesn’t!” Star wrote. “Arguing over stuff as such makes us miss the simple pleasures in life. I hate I didn’t get her name, but I will next game because I’m sure Isaiah will make his way back to her. I love her and don’t know her!”
Star and Thameka later found out that the woman’s name is Angela.
“She’s such a sweet lady y’all!” Star said. “It’s awesome how God connects people together for whatever reason!”
When Angela saw the pictures Star had posted, she was touched.
‘To God be all praise, glory, and honor!” she wrote on Facebook. “I have been overwhelmed with emotions today as I have read the post Star Balloon-Bradley shared. I am humbled by the kind words everyone has spoken. Isaiah is absolutely adorable! I pray people will [see] Jesus in all this & know His love is beyond measure and that is how I want to love and life my life. I’m not worthy but He sure is!”
If only more people would show this kind of love and kindness to their fellow man – not worrying about skin color or any other superficial differences – the world would be a much better place!
Were you touched by the kindness Angela showed Isaiah? Then share it!
