Nurse Confused When Dog Won’t Leave Hospital Doors, Then Learns Heartbreaking Reason Why

The dog had been sitting outside the hospital for four months

Dogs are known for being “man’s best friend,” and never was that shown more beautifully than in the heart-wrenching scene that took place in front of a hospital in São Paolo, Brazil.

In late October, a homeless man got into a heated discussion and got stabbed in the process. He was rushed to Santa Casa de Novo Horizonte hospital for treatment.

The man had a faithful dog who chased after the ambulance, following it all the way to the hospital. When his owner was taken inside, the dog quietly sat down outside the hospital doors and waited.

Sadly, the man was not able to recover from his wounds and died a short time later. The dog, unaware of his owner’s passing, has been patiently waiting for him ever since.

The hospital’s financial director said the dog is calm and polite. He has never tried to enter the building – he just sits outside and occasionally goes for walks to pass the time.

It didn’t take long for hospital staff to notice the faithful pooch and take him under their wing. They have brought him food, water, and blankets. They even found a new home for the dog at a local kennel that was willing to take him in, but the dog quickly escaped and ran right back to his post outside the hospital doors.

It is heartbreaking to see this dog so faithfully waiting for a man who will never return, but his loyalty has gone on to touch thousands. We hope one day soon he will understand what has happened and find his way into a new, loving home.
